As we continue to look back on our portfolio, we would like to focus on the Bronx River Parkway landscape project.
We have been working on various parts of the Bronx River Parkway since 1980 and continue to be a part of the wonderful work being done to revitalize the parkway.

“Our work along the Bronx River Parkway was really a landscape renovation or reconstruction. We could not restore it because the original drawings no longer existed. But we did construct new bridges, new paths, and a jogging trail, and we installed benches and new plantings. The Westchester County Parks Department adopted our path designs and bridge prototypes for other lakes along the parkway, north of our site.
My instinct for this project was to make a romantic or bucolic landscape — the type that Frederick Law Olmsted sought to create, inspired as he was by England’s master gardener, “Capability” Brown. Adopting the romantic landscape approach, we designed paths that meander sensuously in harmony with the topography and the new berms, and we grouped the new trees into naturalistic masses of native species.
